Associate Professor Ts. Gs. Dr. Mohd Johari Mohd Yusof is an Associate Professor at the Department of Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Design and Architecture, UPM. He is a Landscape Architect by discipline and training, and he also involves in GIS and Spatial Planning disciplines. He received his PhD and MSc in Geographical Information System (GIS) from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He completed his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) and Diploma in Town and Regional Planning at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Owing to the multidisciplinary nature of his academic background, he has collaborated with researchers from various disciplines.
A. Prof. Mohd Johari's research interests span urban green space planning, green infrastructure, GIS analysis and its methodology and IT in built environmental studies. He has led and involved in research collaborations relating to urban open green space planning, GIS spatial analysis, economic evaluation of urban green space. Recently, he ventures into innovation of mobile application called e-site inventory. He received several awards for his innovation of e-site inventory which include The Best Award and Gold Award in Malaysia Technology Expo 2016, Merit Award in Malaysian Landscape Architecture Award 2015, Gold Medal Award in International Invention, Innovation and Design 2015, Gold Award in National University Carnival on e-Learning 2014, Bronze Award in Innovation Practices in Higher Education Expo 2015 and Silver Award in International Conference and Exposition on Inventions by Higher Learning 2015. He also has published in many well known academic journals and also was invited to present his research findings locally and internationally.
A. Prof. Mohd Johari is currently a Deputy Dean (Academic and International) of the faculty. He is also an Associate Editor of Alam Cipta: an International Journal of Sustainable Tropical Design Research and Practice, a research associate of both the Road and Safety Research Center (RSRC) and Geospatial Information Science Research Center (GISRC) and a professional member of the Malaysian Board of Technologist (MBOT) and Institute of Geospatial and Remote Sensing Malaysia (IGRSM). He is a principal supervisor for 18 postgraduate students from a total of 38 postgraduate supervision (18 PhD, 20 MSc) since 2005.
